Tune in for a very special Facebook LIVE event on December 23 at 5:30 PM, EST! Check out our step-by-step demonstration on how to make hot chocolate bombs at home.
You may have already heard of these delicious little treats. Indeed, hot chocolate bombs have erupted over social media. From TikTok to YouTube, the Internet remains saturated from the blast. Follow along during our event as wellness lifestyle expert Devin Almonte and her daughter Ellie prepare for a chocolate explosion of their own.
Together, they’ll experiment with different flavors inspired by Great Wolf Lodge. They’ll also be joined by a very special surprise guest at some point along the way!
We all know this year’s holiday celebrations won’t resemble those from seasons past. Use this activity to make the most of your time at home with the ones you love. Share this post to connect with friends and family who are social distancing this season. You can even hop on a video call after the event to discuss what you’ve learned.
Now, let’s get started!
- Hot Cocoa Mix 65%
- Cocoa Chocolate
- Candy Canes (crushed)
- Red Velvet Cake Crumbs
- Milk or Water
- Silicone Molds
If you don’t see your favorite topping or ingredient, feel free to improvise. Leave a comment on our Facebook page to let us know what you used.
Hot Chocolate Bomb Recipe
Step 1: Chop up your chocolate as finely as you can. Place in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds.
Step 2: Take the chocolate out, stir it, and put it back in for 15-second increments until completely melted.
Step 3: Line each silicone mold with chocolate using a spoon or paintbrush. Coat the inside of each cup as evenly as possible. Make sure it’s thick enough around the edges so that they won’t break.
Step 4: Put in freezer and let sit for 5-10 minutes.
Step 5: Remove from freezer, gently pull back the silicone and pop the half spheres out.
Step 6: Fill one half sphere three-quarters of the way with hot cocoa and your favorite toppings (Devin and Ellie are using marshmallows and crushed peppermint!)
Step 7: Place microwave-safe plate in the microwave for 1 minute on high. Remove plate and place empty halves edges-down and place until they start to melt.
Step 8: Combine with other half. Let cool for a few seconds.
Step 9: Decorate the outside with sprinkles or melted chocolate.
Step 10: Warm up some milk or water and pour into a mug. Add hot chocolate bomb and enjoy!
Don’t forget, Devin and Ellie will also be introducing audiences to the concept of Hygge, or “Hoo-guh.” The translation isn’t perfect, but the Danish term refers to “a feeling of coziness which makes people content and comfortable.” These days, we’ll take as much of that as we can get!
You can check out our blog for even more ideas on how to have fun with the family from home. Remember, Great Wolf Lodge is committed to helping create family traditions, one family at a time. This year, we’re looking to take that mission out of the lodge and into your home.
