Do you know that the history of candy apples dates back to 1908? That’s right, we’ve been enjoying this tasty treat for over 100 years! Of course, there’s something extra special about the snack during a change of season. To help ease into autumn, we’re providing our very own caramel apple recipe. Check out the ingredients below.

DIY Carmel Apple Ingredients

You’ll need the following ingredients to get started:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 12 tbsp butter cut into small chunks
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 fresh apples, washed and chilled
  • Popsicle sticks

Make Your Own Carmel Apples with This Easy Recipe

Step 1: Put the sugar in a large, heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. As the edges start to liquefy, stir with a heavy spatula. Keep stirring regularly. It’ll be clumpy first, then turn to gold liquid.

Step 2: When sugar is melted, an adult should carefully add the butter to the pan. Use a spoon to be safe.

Step 3: Stir butter in for 2 minutes.

Step 4: Pour in cream while stirring. Allow caramel to reach 235°. This may take 15-20 minutes.

Step 5: Remove stems from apples and insert popsicle sticks.

Step 6: Remove caramel from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Dip apples into caramel, then place on a nonstick surface.
