Try these Recipes with Kids over Spring Break

Staying home over spring break doesn’t mean you can’t plan fun activities! Cooking is an awesome indoor activity that will engage the whole family. Here are 5 recipes you probably haven’t tried to make with the family this spring break:

Brownie Batter Dip Recipe

What you’ll need:

  • 1 container of cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups of confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ milk or milk substitute
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Pretzels (optional)
  • Apples (optional)

Instructions:

Mix the cream cheese and butter until smooth and then beat in confectioners sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla. Then stir in your chocolate chips. Serve the dip in a bowl with dippers of your choice!

Tip: Add your favorite snacks as additional dippers!

Everything Bagel Snack Mix Recipe

What you’ll need:

  • Cheez-its
  • Goldfish
  • Pretzels
  • Crackers (crumbled)
  • Almonds or cashews
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Olive oil

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix

3. Lay mixture on a baking sheet and coat with a slight drizzle of olive oil and a generous amount of everything bagel seasoning

4. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until crispy

5. Enjoy!

5 Layer Bars Recipe

What you’ll need:

  • Cookie dough
  • Brownie batter
  • Caramel
  • Oreos
  • Chopped nuts

Tip: substitute nuts for graham crackers to make these allergy-friendly!

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Spread the brownie batter onto the bottom of a glass tray and layer the cookie dough on top. Spread desired amount of Oreos over the top of the cookie dough and press them in

3. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges look golden brown

4. Drizzle caramel and nuts on top

5. Place in fridge for 20-30 minutes before cutting

6. Enjoy!

Frozen Banana Treat Recipe

What you’ll need:

1. Popsicle sticks

2. Bananas

3. Chocolate

4. Sprinkles

5. Chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

1. Melt chocolate in microwave

2. Dip bananas into chocolate

3. Sprinkle chopped nuts and rainbow sprinkles over the top

4. Continue this process for all bananas

5. Lay bananas on a baking sheet

6. Freeze for one hour

7. Enjoy!

Homemade Ice Cream Pop Recipe

What you’ll need:

  • Chocolate ice cream
  • Small paper cups
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Chocolate chips
  • M&Ms

Instructions:

1. Put ice cream into paper cups

2. Mix in M&Ms and chocolate chips

3. Place a popsicle stick in each cup

4. Freeze for 10 minutes

5. Pull ice cream pop out of cup and enjoy!
